Common Replacements may be\u00a0<strong>Removable Dentures<\/strong>,\u00a0\u00a0<strong>Fixed Dentures,<\/strong>\u00a0or maybe supported or retained by\u00a0<strong>implants<\/strong>.<\/p><ul><li><strong>Removable Dentures<\/strong><\/li><li><strong>Removable Partial Dentures (RPD) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>are replacements if not all teeth are missing<\/li><li><strong>Complete Dentures (CD) \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>are replacements if all teeth are missing<\/li><\/ul><p>Base Materials for these replacements maybe made of, but not limited to,\u00a0 acrylic, silicone, metal or combination of metal and acrylic. One advantage of these dentures is it can easily be removed and\u00a0 cleaned. However, for this to serve its purpose, the patient should use it for eating and must be see his\/her dentist regularly so adjustments may be done if\u00a0 the denture is loose or becomes ill-fitted.\u00a0<\/p><ul><li><strong>Fixed Dentures<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Fixed dentures\u00a0<\/strong>also known as non-removable dentures are coverings or replacements that will feel like natural teeth. It can replace one tooth or more and can not easily be removed. These are custom-made but should follow the shape of the ideal tooth and meant to protect the tooth it covers.\u00a0 More importantly, it should be functional.<\/p><p><strong>Crown<\/strong>\u00a0 \u2013 it is a covering or a cap that is used for single tooth. It is indicated if the tooth is discolored, cracked \u00a0or has loose large fillings.<\/p><p><strong>Fixed Bridge<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 It is a covering with similar materials with crowns,\u00a0 that is use to replace missing or extracted tooth or more than one tooth. It may use existing tooth\/ teeth near the missing tooth\/teeth as anchorage or abutments where they are securely bonded for retention\u00a0 \u00a0and stability<\/p><p><strong>Types of Fixed Dentures<\/strong>\u00a0according to materials may be made of the following(but not limited to) :<\/p><ul><li>Metal Crowns\/bridges \u2013 Gold Alloy and its alternatives<ul><li>Non- Metal Crowns \u2013 Acrylic Resin or Porcelain<\/li><\/ul><ul><li>Combination of metal and plastic or Prorcelain Fused to Metal<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><p><strong>Steps involved in Fixed Denture Fabrication:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li><strong>Diagnosis<\/strong>\u00a0of the involved tooth\/teeth and its surrounding structure. There will be visual inspection to check mobility of the tooth\/teeth, its integrity, opposing tooth (if present), and\u00a0 gums should not be swelling. Radiographic inspection is done to check\u00a0 if there is\u00a0 root fracture, bone loss, unerupted tooth(teeth). This step will determine the prognosis.<\/li><li><strong>Impression<\/strong>\u00a0is taken to make a diagnostic cast or study model<\/li><li><strong>Tooth Preparation\u00a0<\/strong>will be done to form or shape \u00a0the\u00a0 involved tooth\/teeth\u00a0 so that crown\/bridge to fabricated by the laboratory will fit the prepared tooth\/teeth.<\/li><li><strong>Final impression<\/strong>\u00a0is taken , shade determined and will be sent to laboratory.<\/li><li>Ideally, a\u00a0<strong>temporary cover<\/strong>\u00a0may be placed over the tooth while waiting for the final material.<\/li><li>When the crown is ready it\u00a0<strong>will be fitted<\/strong>\u00a0first to allow the patient to check for any uncomfortable\u00a0 feeling especially when biting and the shade is check as well (<strong><em>Trial Phase<\/em><\/strong>)<\/li><li>Patient will give the Go-signal if everything is okay then the crown\/bridge will be cemented over the involved\u00a0 tooth<\/li><li>Patient will be given\u00a0<strong>post installation<\/strong>\u00a0instructions<p><strong>Always Seek Professional Help<\/strong><\/p><\/li><\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit.
